New Sealyham Terrier Champions 2009

The first two Sealyham Champions of 2009 were made up at Three Counties. Davmar Dollar was the first, owned by Mrs and Miss Hampson and bred by David Winsley. He is the 1st UK Champion for the Hampsons who have the Kamryan affix. For Davmar he is the 12th UK Champion. He was conceived in the USA by the now UK resident Am/UK Ch Penllyn Pimpernel (and is his 3rd UK Champion) from a daughter of Ch Pindaric Welsh Dragon and the litter sister of breed CC record holder, Ch Davmar Northern Dancer. The litter also produced Ch Davmar American Dream and a dog with 2CCs. Dollar won his 1st CC at Welsh K C in 2007 and his 2nd at Manchester earlier this year. He sired last year's Top Puppy and Reserve CC winner, Kamryan Hey Look At Me.

The 2nd new Champion at Three Counties was Jumbeeden Comedienne for Cibach, owned by Cathy Thomas and bred by Jumbo Frost. She is the 2nd UK Champion for owner and breeder. The first for Mrs Thomas was Ch Zippor Playing The Game at Cibach in 2006, while Miss Frost's first was 2008's Ch Jumbeeden Guinness. Guinness is Comdienne's younger full brother. They are by Leomona Limited Edition at Topstage, the litter brother of two UK Champion bitches. Their dam is Jumbeeden Dance A Dream, a daughter of Ch Davmar Northern Dancer from a bitch who was a double granddaughter of influential stud Ch Rowanedge Spit And Polish. Guinness has a litter sister with a CC who took the reserve at Three Counties. Comedienne won her other CCs at Three Counties in 2007 with BOB and this year at the Sealyham Terrier Club show.

Two more Champions were crowned at the next show with CCs, the Sealyham Terrier Breeders' Association Championship show. The dog was BIS, becoming Champion Davmar Duty Free, the 13th Davmar Champion for owner and breeder, David Winsley. Duty Free is the 3rd UK Champion from his litter after sister American Dream and brother Dollar (made up at Three Counties). Their pedigree is linked to American/UK Ch Penllyn Proper Bloke II who became the first American bred Sealyham to gain a UK Championship. He sired several Champions here before returning to the USA. Duty Free is the 4th UK Champion for sire, American/UK Ch Penllyn Pimpernel, a Proper Bloke son resident in the UK. Duty Free won his first CC at Birmingham National last year and his 2nd at the National Terrier this year. At the STBA, his nephew (by Dollar) won the Reserve CC while his daughter took her 3rd CC ...

... to become Champion Polrose Penny Black for Pendalin. She is owned by Mrs Margaret Longmate and was bred by David Winsley and Kevin Holmes who now own the Polrose affix of the late Pheobe Cuming. She is the 7th Champion for the Pendalin kennel of Mrs Longmate whose first two Champions were litter sisters from the Pastelin kennel of Miss Phyllis Rowe. The sisters each bred a Champion to Ch Topstage Mister Bojangles (who also sired the first Davmar Champion). Then a sister of one of those Champions bred two more UK Champions. Penny Black is by new Ch Davmar Duty Free ex Polrose Phyll, the Reserve CC winning granddaughter of Mrs Cuming's last Champion, Polrose Party Politics (made up in 1995 and handled by Mr Winsley and Mr Holmes). Phyll has two lines to Ch Davmar Northern Dancer while Duty Free descends from his litter sister, Davmar In Disguise.
